This course is designed to challenge students to examine and explore strengths-based leadership theories and models based on the growing field of positive psychology. Students will participate in the discovery and application of their own personal strengths in the context of leadership. Individual strengths themes will provide a perspective from which each student will evaluate leadership theory in general and their own leadership style past, present, and future. The course includes how organizational cultures are transformed by the application of the philosophy of talents and strengths and the challenges of this approach. This interactive class includes the application of theories and formal knowledge in practical situations, participation in class discussion and activities, student reflection papers, guest speakers, and team projects.
