Section Information for Spring 2016

This highly interactive course helps aspiring changemakers translate passion and ideas into action. It delves into the nuts and bolts of organization-creation, organization-building, governance, and organizational management specific to social impact work. The lessons draw on proven frameworks across multiple sectors, and explore how they do (or don't) apply to different types of social change. Students will walk away from the course not only understanding how social impact organizations are started, built, and sustained, but able to apply that knowledge to building social impact organizations of their own. The course uses reflective journaling, thought-provoking readings, student-driven research and data-gathering on real-world social ventures, and peer discussion to drive student learning. Meets at the Arlington campus.
