Our Couselors
NCC Enrichment Camp counselors are George Mason University students and alumni. Each counselor has been educated in the content matter of the camps as well as in the developmental issues of children and youth. The students are part of New Century College, an integrative studies program, and their concentration of study tends to fall into one of the following categories: education, conservation studies or other sciences, arts and culture, child and family studies, and community studies. Prior to camp, the students participate in intensive summer courses, which prepare them to teach the campers and to serve as counselors. They have been trained to facilitate the leadership, creativity, math, science or environmental camp curriculum, and they have all participated in one of the three-credit courses that provide structure and support for creating valuable curricula, activities and camp administration. New Century College professors teach all of these courses.
