How Social Entrepreneurship Works

The Skoll Foundation's Sally Osberg Shares Her Insights

Thursday, October 22, 2015 2:15 PM to 3:30 PM EDT
Van Metre Hall (formerly Founders Hall), Auditorium

Join Ashoka, the Skoll Foundation and George Mason University in celebrating the launch of Getting Beyond Better: How Social Entrepreneurship Works, a new book on social entrepreneurship by Sally Osberg and Roger Martin.

In this new book, Osberg (President and CEO of the Skoll Foundation) and Martin (a prominent author and strategy guru) explore how social entrepreneurs target systems that exist in a stable but unjust equilibrium and transform them into entirely new, superior and sustainable equilibria. Getting Beyond Better sets forth a bold new framework demonstrating how and why meaningful change actually happens in the world and provides concrete lessons and a practical model for businesses, policymakers, civil society organizations and individuals who seek to transform our world for good.

Join us for a conversation on the key ideas discussed in the book and to learn more about the social entrepreneur’s journey and where the field as a whole is headed. Introduction by George Mason University president Dr. Ángel Cabrera and a Q & A with Sally Osberg, facilitated by Ashoka. Book signing to follow presentation. All members of the community are welcome.

George Mason University has been a member of the Ashoka U Changemaker Campus network since 2008 for its commitment to social entrepreneurship and changemaking in higher education.
