New Century College at George Mason University provides you with a small-college experience with access to all the academic resources of a research university close to Washington DC. It offers two unique programs: Mason Cornerstones, open to all incoming first-year students, and degree programs in Integrative Studies. To learn more about our program, click on the links below:
Mason Cornerstones
This innovative general education program allows students to earn the majority of the university-wide general education requirements in a community-based, seminar-style learning environment. Mason Cornerstones provides:
- small, seminar-style classes where you will learn and work closely with faculty and othr students
- hands-on, active learning through field trips, off-campus research and community service
- learning structured to suit both students who have declared majors and those wo are exploring their options
After Mason Cornerstones, you may pursue any of the majors at George Mason University, including New Century College's own Integrative Studies degrees (BA and BS).
The Integrative Studies Degree
New Century College's Integrative Studies degrees allow you to transcend disciplinary boundaries and combine your passions into a single degree.
Integrative Studies degrees offer:
- personalized approaches to teaching and learning
- the integration of discovery, theory and practice to develop creative solutions to contemporary problems
- active learning that connects the classroom and community
- competency-building in areas such as critical thinking, group collaboration and information technology
Some NCC areas of focus include pre-professional studies (education, law, and life sciences), information & society, arts and culture, conservation studies, organizational administration, leadership studies, international studies, child & family studies and public & community engagement. You may also work with an academic advisor to design an individualized concentration customized to your unique academic and career goals, and interests.
The flexibility of New Century College's Integrative Studies degrees maximizes your opportunities whether you are a first-time university student or you have transfered from other programs, colleges or universities.
